This Micro-credential aims to enhance intermediate English skills, emphasizing listening,
speaking, reading, and writing. It aligns with the B1 level of the Common European Framework

of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
The micro-credential equips learners with a deeper understanding of the English language,
delving into topics such as family history, health and fitness, emotions, and more. Utilizing the
"New Headway Pre-Intermediate Student's Book" and other materials, learners will explore
various linguistic structures, including the present perfect tense, comparatives, superlatives,
and passive voice. They will be guided to effectively engage in more nuanced conversations,
read complex texts, and write coherent passages on a range of subjects.

This learning pathway is designed for individuals who have successfully completed the
elementary level or have been assessed as being able to succeed at this level and are eager

to advance their English proficiency further. It caters to a diverse audience, including new
immigrants, refugees, and residents of English-speaking countries, aiming to achieve a

comprehensive and confident command of the English language at the Pre-intermediate level

On successful completion of this micro-credential, learners/äkonga will be able to:

1. Demonstrate understanding of the main points of clear standard speech in English on
familiar matters regularly encountered in work, school, leisure, etc.

2. Engage in English conversation, without preparation, on topics that are familiar, of personal interest or pertinent to everyday life (e.g. family, hobbies, work, travel and current
events)

3. Read and answer questions about texts in English that consist mainly of high frequency everyday or job-related language

4. Write simple connected text in English on topics which are familiar or of personal interest

-Lectures: Classroom-based instruction led by experienced tutors.

- Audio-Visual Learning: Utilisation of multimedia resources like videos and podcasts to
enhance understanding.

- Peer and Group Discussion: Interactive sessions that encourage learners to share
ideas and perspectives, fostering a collaborative learning environment.

- Hand-outs and Reading Materials: Provision of supplementary written materials to reinforce key concepts and allow for self-paced study.

- Resources Accessibility: Resources available on Moodle will be accessible to learners
for the entire duration of the course, allowing for flexible, on-demand learning.

1. MID BLOCK EXAM: This comprehensive exam will assess learners in Grammar, Vocabulary, Pronunciation, Reading, Listening, and Speaking. It serves as a mid-course
evaluation to measure the students' progress and adapt the teaching approach if necessary.

2. END BLOCK EXAM: This is the final assessment that gauges the overall understanding and proficiency of the students in all four language skills: Listening, Speaking,
Reading, and Writing. It serves as a conclusive measure of learners' readiness to advance to

the next level of English proficiency.
